Quarry Beach Yurt Rental

Alaska Yurt Rental Description of Quarry Beach.
Quarry Beach yurt is located at the entrance to Sadie Cove on the right. As you pull in to Sadie Cove you will see an alder covered point on your right before it rises to the Grace Ridge. The yurt is at the mouth of the old Quarry that traverses the point from Sadie Cove over to Kayak Beach on the Tutka Bay side. Look for a small bite of a harbor with a small clearing on your left about a mile from the top of the point. There is no beach at Quarry yurt site; the access is a deep-water harbor that drops off steeply right off shore. On the right side of the entrance to this cove/harbor is some debris that is submerged so enter slowly and come straight in or stay to the left. The harbor is fairly well sheltered and you can safely tie off from shore.
There is halibut fishing and salmon fishing just off the shore at this site. You can access the Grace Ridge trail and hike to alpine from here also. The kayaking is great with access to islands and coves.

The yurt is set up with 3 full size (each sleeps 2 friends) bunks set up around a central wood stove. We leave an axe and hand saw in the yurt and a one-burner propane camp stove and a pot to boil water.
There is a bear resistant food storage container on site. Please do not leave garbage in the container and wipe up any spills with the provided wipes. We ask that you cook on the fire ring to keep food smells out of the yurt. There is an outhouse on site, please do not put paper in the hole. Burn it or pack it out with you.
The yurt does lock so it is possible to accidentally lock yourself out. If this happens, just unzip the wall panel - the zipper is just to the right of the door under a velcro flap - reach in and unlock the doorknob.
There is basic safety equipment in the yurt. The yurt cover fabric is fire resistant as is the liner. We put a fire extinguisher in the yurt. There is a first aid kit and basic safety equipment, flares and noisemakers.
You will need to bring bedding and cooking utensils as well as water. There is not a reliable water source at this site. Water is found on the Kayak Beach side of the point about 25 yards up the Grace Ridge Trail off the beach, quite a hike away. All fresh water in the park needs to be boiled for 15 minutes to be free of giarrdia. Avoid all this and bring your own water.
Check -in and out is 12 pm. . The yurts are maintained once a week in the summer. Please sweep up and leave dry firewood inside for the next group.
Thank you for visiting Quarry yurt and we hope that you enjoy your stay!
